Wedding Photography Like You’ve Never Seen Before
On a cold afternoon in Vancouver, while watching a documentary about James Nachtwey, I realised what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.
Having been trained in Maths and then going into tech, photojournalism seemed like a beautiful detour. But after taking on the challenge to shoot a few friends’ weddings, quickly found my niche: taking a documentary approach to tell the story of one of the most important days in another family’s life.
I am Canadian-Sri Lankan, based in Dubai – having grown up and lived most of my life in Dubai I returned to this magnificent city as an adult.
I have shot every kind of wedding – large, glamourous and elaborate weddings to the most intimate and private ceremonies. I love everything about weddings – making new friends, some who become family. Seeing and capturing all the highs but also sometimes the gentle lulls and everything in-between. All the big moments, but also the details, the preparation – the gentle tear rolling down a cheek, sheer exhilaration, joy, abundance, fatigue – we capture it all. Geeshan Bandara Photography has a talented and dedicated team of full time professionals who make sure that the magic, passion, heart and soul of your wedding day is captured and we are with you every step of the way.
My photographs have won multiple awards from Fearless, to Wedding Photojournalists Association, to This is Reportage and the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers. My work has been featured in Wedding Sutra, Pulse Magazine and multiple other publications.
